History

The original Middletown Branch opened in Eastern High School in 1962. This was one of four Louisville Free Public Library branches located in Jefferson County School Libraries. This branch closed in 1980. On April 29, 1985 the present Middletown Branch opened in a shared building with offices of the City of Middletown. When the branch outgrew this location it moved in February of 1989 to its present location in the East Government Center.

Currently, Middletown has a variety of services to offer to the public. Equipped with a number of PCs, access to the Internet and various software programs is just a click away at Middletown. The library also offers a variety of Adult and Children's programs as well as Adult Book Discussion groups and computer classes. Come by and checkout this popular library.
