Award Winning Books
- Mildred L. Batchelder Award - awarded to an American publisher for a children's book considered to be the most outstanding of those books originally published in a foreign language in a foreign country, and then translated into English.
- The Bluegrass Award - The Kentucky Bluegrass Award is an annual presentation that was first awarded in 1983. The program’s goal is to encourage children to read and enjoy a variety of books and select their favorite from a list of recently published books. There are four grade divisions to the Kentucky Bluegrass Award--K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12. Between 15-25 titles are included in each division. The author of the collectively favorite book from each division is awarded the Kentucky Bluegrass Award
- Pura Belpre Awards - presented to a Latino/Latina writer and illustrator whose work best portrays, affirms, and celebrates the Latino cultural experience.
- Caldecott Medal - awarded annually to the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children.
- Coretta Scott King Awards - presented to authors and illustrators of African descent whose distinguished books promote an understanding and appreciation of the "American Dream."
- Newbery Medal - awarded annually to the author of the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children.
- Scott O'Dell Award - annual award to a children's or young adult book for distinguished work in historical fiction set in the New World (i.e., North, Central, or South America)
- Robert F. Sibert Information Book Award - awarded annually to the author of the most distinguished informational book published during the preceding year.
- Laura Ingalls Wilder Medal - award honors an author or illustrator whose books, published in the United States, have made, over a period of years, a substantial and lasting contribution to literature for children.
